5 reasons why you don’t go to the dentist

Salamanca Dental Hobart Dentist Blog_Fotor

At Salamanca Dental, we understand it can be scary going to the dentist. Possibly it was a bad experience in the past, or maybe you’ve got a serious phobia about the dentist? Either way, we’ve outlined the five top reasons for you likely not visiting the dentist, followed by how we combat that fear… so you’ve got no excuses!

You have a phobia

This might sound funny for some, but we understand that you may have a serious phobia about going to the dentist. This isn’t unusual, with a large portion of our patients confiding in us that they have a small or large phobia about the dentist.

We understand that this is a real phobia, and have a number of ways to help you enjoy your dental visit as much as possible. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Education
  • Explanations of what to expect as a patient
  • Treatment while you sleep
  • Always greeted with a smile

You haven’t been for 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 years!

Like a lot of things in life, the longer you leave them, the harder they get. Unfortunately, this seems to apply to visiting the dentist. The longer you leave visiting the dentist, the more worried you are about having your check-up.

At Salamanca Dental we understand that life gets busy, that you may prioritise others in your life over you, or you may have let your dental health slip. We are a non-judgemental practice and are truly happy to just see you!

You have had a bad experience in the past

Does the school dental van send shivers down your spine? Or are you finding it hard to let a bad past experience leave your mind?

You’re not alone. Bad past dental experiences, in particular with the school dental van, really can haunt your memories. At Salamanca Dental we understand this fear and, like number one on this list, have a number of ways to help you face it:

  • Education
  • Empathy and compassion
  • Treatment while you sleep

You can’t afford it

Dental practices have a bad reputation for charging over the hill for little service. At Salamanca Dental we are open with our fee costs and always ensure you get what you pay for.

You don’t see the point?

Your teeth look good, feel good, and you don’t have a toothache – why would you go?

Regular check-ups reduce the chance of any unexpected large dental costs in the future. Although everything feels and looks good to you, we’ve got the training to ensure your teeth are always the best they can be.

So five reasons, and an explanation on how we work with these… no excuses now, we look forward to seeing you soon!
